Located just a few steps from Lake Como and right outside the historic center, Dinghy Studio offers the tranquility of a residential area with easy access to the lake and its surroundings. It is also convenient for bus and ferry travel, thanks to the nearby bus station and pier.
No Elevator, no Private Parking
SURROUNDINGS The apartment is situated just outside the historic center – a lively area full of bars, restaurants, shops, as well as churches and historic buildings. During the summer season, the streets are busy all day long, while they are much quieter in winter.
GETTING AROUND ASF bus services are available in Como and the neighboring towns. Tickets can be purchased directly on the bus (cash only) or at authorized points (the bus station in Piazza Matteotti in Como, bars, and tobacconists). Taxi services are also available. From the pier, ferries connect to Cernobbio, Torno, Bellagio, Varenna, Colico, and other towns along the lake. Please note that during high season there may be long queues at the ticket office before boarding. Tickets can also be purchased online at the “Navigazione Laghi” website. From the San Giovanni railway station in Como, you can easily reach Milan Centrale and Switzerland (Lugano, Bellinzona, Locarno), while from the Como Nord Lago station you can reach Milan Cadorna railway station. The nearest airports are Milan Malpensa, Milan Linate, and Orio al Serio in Bergamo. Shuttle services to and from the airports can be easily arranged at an additional cost. TIPS We recommend dedicating a day to visit the wonderful towns around the lake. The city of Como is the urban center of the area, but the small towns are gems with splendid lakeside villas. When moving around and strolling along Lake Como, especially in the small towns, make sure to wear comfortable shoes. There are many public drinking fountains in the area and the water is safe to drink unless otherwise indicated. Tap water is also potable. You can bring your reusable bottle with you! If you are looking for a relatively easy hike in the area and still want to enjoy mountain views, the Greenway del Lago di Como is a simple trail connecting the lakeside towns from Colonno to Griante, without requiring too much climbing. A bus will take you to the starting point in Colonno. Look for traditional restaurants where you can taste local dishes, especially those based on Lake Como fish. In Italy, many shops (especially smaller ones) and services close in the middle of the day, so make sure to plan your shopping accordingly. Lake Como is one of the deepest lakes in Europe and the deepest in Italy. Swimming and diving are forbidden in many areas and can be dangerous. However, for those who wish to dive in, there are some options. In Como, there is an outdoor pool near Villa Olmo, but swimming in the lake is strongly discouraged and mostly prohibited. There are beaches in other towns along the lakeshore. A beautiful beach can be found in Careno, but it may be crowded on weekends. Locals and visitors also enjoy going to Nesso, where the bravest swimmers can jump into the lake from the ancient Roman bridge near the waterfall. The Lido di Bellagio and San Giovanni beach await those who want to explore the beautiful town of Bellagio, located at the center of the two branches of the lake. Lake Como is located in a mountainous region. The surrounding Prealps may not seem very high, but the climate is still influenced by the nearby mountains and temperatures can change quickly. Pay particular attention to weather conditions during hikes and bring warm and waterproof clothing!
