5 things to do with family on Lake Como Family Holiday

We have hosted hundreds of international families in our beautiful homes in Como, and we have shared with them many recommendations on what to do to enjoy Lake Como at its best. Here is a list of 5 things to do on Lake Como with your children and teens.

1. A swim in blue waters
In Spring and Summer there are many water sports and outdoor activities to choose from and, of course, in the hot summer days a dip in blue waters is a must. 2. Funicular and cable car
For the little ones, a ride on a funicular or a cable car is always good fun and grown-ups will also enjoy both the ride and the stunning views at the top. To convince your teenagers to join you, tell them they can take Instagram-perfect pictures of the views to show off on their Social Media!
On Lake Como there are two “mountain rides”: the funicular train from Como up to Brunate and the cable car from Argegno up to Pigra. In both cases, the rides are fairly short and the views are definitely worth it!

3. A picnic with a view
Parco Olivelli in Tremezzina, Villa Olmo in Como (on the way to the Villa, stop by at the sea-plane hangar on the way, kids love to see the airplanes take off and land on water) or the hidden beach of Torriggia; here are a few picnic-perfect locations to enjoy the lake, the views and let kids play around outdoors. If you are a keen hiker there are also plenty of beautiful spots up on the mountains around Lake Como that are perfect for picnics immersed in nature!

4. Falconry at the Vezio Tower
A visit to the Castello di Vezio in Varenna is a must during your stay on Lake Como. Once again, the panorama is extraordinary, but what is certainly worth seeing is the Falconry demonstration that appeals to adults and children alike. Days and times of demonstrations can vary according to the weather, to our Guests we always recommend to visit the website or call before going to Varenna for the visit. Varenna itself is a lovely town to visit on a Day trip from Como.

5. A hike with a view
For families who love the outdoors and walks there are many options to discover the mountains and the woods around the lake. Among the best signposted and easiest walks there is the famous Lake Como Greenway.
Attention instead on the Larian mountains, not all paths are well marked.
